Useful For
- Aiding in the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic disorders such as such as hay fever, atopic bronchitis and dermatitis.
-
Aiding in clinical differentiation between atopic (i.e., predisposition to excessive IgE reaction) and non-atopic (non-IgE mediated) allergic diseases.
-
Elevated serum IgE concentrations can also occur in non-allergic diseases such as congenital immunodeficiency syndromes, HIV infection, graft-versushost disease, severe burns and parasitic diseases.
