Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Urine
Container/Tube: Clean container
Specimen Volume: 25 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 2 mL
Collection Instructions:
1. Collect a freshly-voided, random urine collection.
2. No preservative.
3. Refrigerate specimen after collection and send specimen refrigerated.
4. Centrifuge aliquot before testing.

Cutoff concentration: 300 ng/mL
The results from this test can be reported qualitatively as negative or positive relative to the 300 ng/mL cutoff level for opiates. Positive results indicate that the specimen is likely to contain opiates. Negative results indicate that either the specimen does not contain opiates or that opiates are present in concentrations below the cutoff level of 300 ng/mL.
Results of this test should always be interpreted in conjunction with the patient’s medical history, clinical presentation, and other findings.
