Test Code LAB346 PT G20210A Gene Mutation/Factor V Leiden

Important Note

  • Testing only needs to be performed once per lifetime of the patient, as this is a genetic test.

Useful For

Determining if an individual has an inherited disorder associated with blot clots.

  • Prothrombin 20210 is a coagulation factor essential for proper blood clot formation. A mutation in one of the genes that code for these factors increases the risk for blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and/or venous thromboembolism (VTE).
  • Factor V is a coagulation factor essential for proper blood clot formation. People who have a mutation in one of the genes that code for these factors have an increased risk of blood clots, including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and/or venous thromboembolism (VTE).
