Specimen Requirements

Specimen Type: Random Urine

Specimen Volume: 10 ml
Collection Instructions:
- Collect a minimum of 10 ml to ensure optimal recovery of eosinophils. Specimen will be concentrated by centrifugation.
- Label container with patient’s name (first and last), date and actual time of collection.

Collection Instructions:
- Using a #2 lead pencil, label frosted end of 2 clean, glass slides with patient’s name, date and time of collection, and type of specimen.
- Use a sterile swab to collect specimen.
- Immediately spread a thin layer of cells on 2 clean, glass slides by rolling swab across non-frosted end of slide. (Frosted end of slide should face up.)
- Allow slides to air dry.
- Place slides in a plastic slide container and forward promptly.
