Test Code LAB1751 Enoxaparin Anti-Xa, Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH)

Important Note

This test is used to monitor Low Molecular Weight Heparin (e.g. Lovenox) therapy.  This test should not be ordered in place of an activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT).

Blue tubes that are not filled to the required line will not be processed, due to result integrity being affected.

Specimen Requirements

Specimen must arrive within 1 hour of draw.
 

Specimen Type: Whole blood
Container/Tube: Blue top (3.2% sodium citrate)

Specimen Volume: Full tube

Collection Instructions: 

1. Immediately after draw, invert tubes several times to mix blood with additive.

2. Send specimen in original tube.  Centrifuge within 1 hour of collection.  Analyze within 2 hours.

Reference Values

Reference (normal) Range: 0.0-0.1 U/mL

 

For patients on LMW Heparin:

Therapeutic range: 0.6-1.0 U/mL 

Prophylactic range: 0.1-0.5 U/mL
