Test Code LAB123123 Troponin High Sensitivity
Useful For
- Aiding in the diagnosis of Myocardial Infarction. As a result of its high tissue‑specificity, cardiac troponin T (cTnT) is a cardio‑specific, highly sensitive marker for myocardial damage.
- Elevated concentrations of cTn can also occur in other clinical conditions such as myocarditis, heart contusion, pulmonary embolism and drug‑induced cardiotoxicity.
Methodology
Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay (ECLIA)
Performing Laboratory
Bozeman Health Laboratory Services
Specimen Requirements
Specimen Type: Plasma
Container/Tube: Light-green top (lithium heparin gel)
Specimen Volume: 1 mL
Specimen Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL
Specimen Rejection:
- Hemolyzed samples may falsely depress results and will be rejected.
- Samples should not be taken from patients receiving therapy with high
biotin doses (i.e. > 5 mg/day) until at least 8 hours following the last biotin
administration.
Specimen Transport Temperature
Refrigerated<24 hours/Frozen>24 hours
Specimen Stability
Specimen Type | Temperature | Time |
---|---|---|
Plasma | Refrigerated | 24 hours |
Frozen | 1 year |
Reference Values
Normal: ≤19 ng/L
Critical value (automatic call-back): >100 ng/L
Note: High Sensitivity Troponin I (hsTnI) and High Sensitivity Troponin T (hsTnT) are different tests with different reference ranges. Values are not equivalent and should not be compared to one another.
