Useful For

The detection and diagnosis of Plague.  Plague is caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. Humans usually get plague after being bitten by a rodent flea that is carrying the plague bacterium or by handling an animal infected with plague. Without prompt antibiotic treatment, the disease can cause serious illness or death.

Specimen Volume: 2 mL

Collection Instructions: Spin down and send 2 mL serum refrigerated.  

Specimen Rejection: Hemolyzed samples may interfere with test results.
